Construction of a new bridge (road and rail) over the Danube River at Vidin – Calafat
The project implementation should provide the missing link along the Corridor IV and should play an important socio-economic role for the whole North-Western region. The total value of the project is € 226 M.
The project is divided into two lots, for which 4 contracts have been signed – two for the construction and two for the supervision:
Lot 1: Construction of the bridge – The contract with the Spanish company FCC was signed in the beginning of 2007 and the construction of the bridge should be finalized till the middle of 2011. The bridge should be put into service till the end of June 2012.
Lot 2: Construction of the adjacent infrastructure – The works began in 2008 and it is envisaged to be completed till the end of 2010. The adjacent infrastructure should be put into service till the end of 2011.
Reconstruction and Electrification of Plovdiv – Svilengrad railway line
The Project is a significant one because the railway section is part from the Pan-European Transport corridors IV and X and should improve the connections between Europe and Asia. The total value of the project is € 340 M. The first phase of the project concerns the reconstruction of Plovdiv – Parvomay railway line and should be completed till the end of November 2009. The second phase of the project – Reconstruction of Parvomay – Svilengrad railway line, as well as the implementation of the Signaling and Telecommunication systems and SCADA should be completed till the end of 2011.
Technical Assistance Projects
Modernisation of Vidin – Sofia railway line – the contract was signed on 5.09.2007 and was completed in the end of September 2009
Rehabilitation of railway infrastructure sections along Plovdiv – Burgas and Mezdra – Gorna Oryahovitsa railway lines – the contracts with the consultants were signed on 19.09.2009 and are still under implementation. The completion of these projects for technical assistance is envisaged for the beginning of 2010
Modernisation of the Trans-European railway network for the sections Sofia–Plovdiv, Sofia – Dragoman and Sofia – Pernik – Radomir – the contracts were signed on 28.01.2008 for Sofia – Plovdiv railway line, and on 21.08.2008 for the other two sections. The completion of these projects for technical assistance is envisaged for the middle of 2010
