The Indian pulp and paper industry has recently experienced enormous growth, coupled with consolidation. Simultaneously, tighter pollution control measures are creating procurement opportunities for suppliers to the industry – particularly with regard to addressing issues pertaining to waste water, air emissions, and solid waste.
This briefing is part of an orientation visit organized by the U.S .Trade and Development Agency to help U.S. suppliers and consultants to the pulp and paper industry to avail themselves of emerging opportunities in India.
The afternoon of May 7, the Indian delegation participated in a business briefing where the high-ranking Indian delegates presented their needs in terms of pulp and paper clean technologies. The briefing was followed by a limited number of one-on-one meetings, lasting 12 - 15 minutes each.
The orientation visit (or trade mission) will included sessions in Atlanta with government and academic officials and visits to six prominent paper mills in the Southeast states.
